Progress Update and More News

Hello Awesome Backers:

Episodes 1-7 are now complete with music, special effects, and voices! Chip will finish up episode 8 today and deliver it to me for review.  The last step is for me to review all of the wav files for one more check to make sure everything is ready to go.   Once I've approved everything, I will be able to finish up Backerkit and submit it for review. I will also start loading the MP3s onto the flash drives. I'm already in the process of setting the CDs up at the manufacturer. We decided to add a commentary track as well which we will complete this week. A HUGH thank you to Chip for doing such a great job. :)

SURVEYS

It looks like we are on schedule to send surveys out by the middle of February. If you are interested in purchasing more than one additional flash drive or CD through Backerkit, PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECTLY. I'll be able to work out a better shipping deal for you. I will repeat this in future updates as a reminder.

IN MEMORY OF

Unfortunately, this has been a rather sad week on many levels.

Brian Augustyn, comic writer and editor, died over the weekend from a stroke.  He worked on such titles as The Flash, Justice League, and Action Comics Weekly. He also wrote Batman: Gotham By Gaslight, among many other titles, and co-wrote with Mark Waid. His influence spanned decades. Though I did not personally know him, his presence will be missed.

Meredith Loughran, writer, podcaster, and promoter of all things good about comics, died suddenly this weekend.  I first met Meredith on her podcast Ragin' AVC with her co-host Nita Lanning this past year. Meredith was smart, interesting, and the kind of person who you felt you had known forever. I only wish that had been true.

My father-in-law, John Rosing, also passed suddenly yesterday.  Please be patient as we mourn his loss.

Brief Update

Hello Awesome Backers:

Chip is done with the voices and special effects for ALL EIGHT EPISODES, with the exception of a couple of pick-up lines to be redone by one of our supporting actors. I have also given him some minor notes for all eight as well, which he's already dealt with. :)  Music is done for 1 & 2.  We are still on track for MP3s to be ready in early February. As I mentioned in the last update, CDs will take longer  as Chip needs to prep those audio files,  and then I have to set up the production (US based-company), production time, shipping to me, and then shipping to you who have ordered them. Realistically, CDs will probably go out in March; however, Backerkit surveys will go out in early February. (I've been working on that off and on over the last couple of weeks.)

Int the meantime, please check out this awesome project by a friend of mine over in the graphic novel category.

Hello Awesome Backers:

Happy New Year!

I wanted to give you an update on our progress and schedule for the release of the audio drama. 

WHERE WE ARE AT RIGHT NOW

I have reviewed and given Chip (our audio engineer) notes on the special effects for episodes 1-6 and for both the music and the special effects for episode 1.  Chip has informed me that he plans on completing both the special effects and voices by Jan. 22.  Music should be completed by Feb.1 with final versions in MP3 format by Feb. 9 (give or take a few days). 

Files to load onto the CDs will take a little more time, but he anticipates that will be done by the end of February. We are planning on adding commentary to the 5th disc which will take a bit more time and then I have to order them to be produced, mailed to me, then mailed to those reward tiers. I am using a U.S. based company which has a turn around time of about two weeks.

If all goes according to our schedule, you will be able to download the MP3 files in February and the flash drives will be mailed out then as well. Speaking of flash drives...they arrived and look great!

 SURVEYS AND DIGITAL STRETCH GOAL REWARDS

Backerkit surveys will go out in early February. So look for them then. I'll be sending you your digital wallpaper this week through KS messaging.  

OTHER QUESTIONS

Will there be a Ghost Ship graphic novella?

Right now, I have no plans to do that, but who knows what the future will hold.

Will there be more Boston Metaphysical Society audio dramas?

I would love to do more, but I'll need to reorganize some things in order for that to happen. I'll keep you posted.

Production Update and More!

Hello Awesome Backers:

Kickstarter has sent the funds to me, which means several things have happened:

1. Magnets are ordered.

2. Flash drives are ordered. (We will upload the audio files ourselves.)

3. Actors will get their bonuses by the end of the week.

4. CDs will not be produced until the project is completed.

There was a question about providing FLAC files. After giving this a lot of consideration, I decided that FLAC files will be available to purchase through Backerkit as an add-on and will come pre-loaded on separate flash drive so it does not interfere with the playback sequence on your audio device. 

PRODUCTION

Episode 1 is essentially done (special effects and music) with the exception of a few minor notes I gave to Chip.  The special effects are done for Episode 2, and Chip hopes to hand off a completed version to me with music by Dec. 19 before he leaves on holiday. The special effects version of Episodes 3 and 4 are scheduled to arrive to me for review this week. So we are moving along!

Look for my next update after the first of the year unless something important comes up. Once again, thank you for backing the project and I hope you have a terrific holiday.

Thank you so much for joining us on this new adventure into audio drama. It means the world to me.

What happens next:

Kickstarter will be charging your credit cards so please make sure  your information is up-to-date. The digital  wall paper will be sent through Kickstarter messaging once the money  has cleared into my account. (That takes about 14 days.) And according to my audio engineer, Chip, we are on track for a late January/early February delivery. So, yah!

San Diego Comic Con

I will be at San Diego Comic Con next week (Nov. 26-28). If you are attending, please stop by and say "hi" at my Small Press table L-16.  I will be traveling over the next week and a half, so if you have any questions, I will get to them, but not as quickly as usual.

Once again, thank you for all your support. Now I will take a brief break from social media and go pet my dogs.
